April/May 2014

In April/May we...

  • Had a visit from Granny and Papa.  It was Granny's birthday so we took her out to dinner and then came home for cake!  We also had a nice afternoon at the park and Maddie watched her first movie, "Frozen"
  • The weather has started to get warmer so we have finally gotten a chance to break out the water table.  We bought it last September, but had never used it before.  To Maddie this was a new toy and she loves it!
  • Got our very own swimming pool for the backyard.  The big pool in our neighborhood opens in mid-May, so we have a pool for the in between times.
  • Helped daddy celebrate the big 2-9!  We brought him lunch at work and then had a special evening of dinner, cake, and presents!  Maddie loves birthday's....she loves to sing and eat birthday cake!
  • Took a trip to the zoo -- Maddie loves to visit all the animals
  • Hung out with our friend Theresa and her daughters Helena and Jacklynne.  We went to the science center, out to lunch at Chick-fil-a, and to the mall all in one week!
  • Started to make lunch at Chick-fil-a a Thursday ritual.  We would go straight from music class and beat the lunch crowd!  Maddie absolutely loves it there.  She loves getting to play in the play area after we eat.
  • Spent 3 nights without mommy and daddy.  Granny and Papa came up to watch Maddie while Shawn and I went to South Carolina for a wedding.  We actually spent one night in Atlanta and 2 in SC.  It was nice to get away, have dinner by ourselves after 5:30pm, and just hang out.  Maddie took G and P to music class, Chick-fil-a, the grocery store, the dog parade, to lunch with Aunt Jen and Uncle Brett, and did a lot of playing at home. I know everyone had a great weekend!
  • Spent a lot of time at the pool once it finally opened!  I know we spent much more time there as the summer goes on.  Maddie is enjoying the water, but still is a little hesitant to go in all the time.
  • Went to the salsa festival and out for pizza with Aunt Jen and Uncle Brett!
  • Got our very own jump jump house for the backyard.  Maddie was jumping all weekend!
  • Started potty training!  For the most part we are fully trained during the day and during nap time. Maddie loves being a big girl in her panties!
  • Talks all of the time, sings all sorts of songs, memorizes most all of her books and can read them all back to you.  She is such a smart and funny little girl.

Happy Easter 2014

Happy Easter!

We had a very nice Easter weekend at home.  On Saturday we spent the day coloring eggs and playing outside.  The weather is finally nice and everything is turning green again.  :)  The past few weekends we had done some landscaping and planted colorful flowers, so our house feels ready for spring!

Maddie was a little impatient with the eggs, so we played some games while they got darker in color.

On Easter Sunday we all went to mass and then came home to open our Easter baskets and hunt for Easter eggs.  Maddie was very excited about Easter this year and had a blast hunting for the eggs. Next year I know to put out a whole bunch more!

Later that day we hosted our cousins, Brett and Jen, and some of Brett's family who live here in Birmingham.  We had a wonderful lunch and enjoyed some nice family time outside.
